Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners on 23 October, with 270 Ukrainians returning home from Russian captivity. Most were defenders of Mariupol held since 2022, including 61 members of the National Guard's 3057 military unit and 35 Azov fighters. The exchange was carried out by authorised Ukrainian structures following President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's instructions.
