Hackers breached Rosstat and estimate over 390 mil Russian deaths linked to war in Ukraine
As hacker groups Cyber Partisans BY and Silent Crow said they breached Russia’s statistics agency and extracted about 23 terabytes of data, they estimated that more than 390,000 Russians died in connection with the war since February 2022. Journalists found no signs of fabrication in the database, but its authenticity could not be independently cryptographically verified, and the estimates remain uncertain.
